Theolonious Monk - Piano Solo

Style: Hard Bop

Format: LP
Label: Swing (Fr)

Year: 1953

Condition: G+/VG-

What a document. One of Monk first recordings! The vinyl shows noticeable groove wear, quite a few of light scratches and some punctually deeper and audible scratches. Expect crackle and occasional pop that will not overpower the music. The cover has intact upper and lower seams as well as the spine. It shows general ringwear and some pencil marks at the tracklist. Ron Carter - Spanish Blue

Style: Jazz con Bass

Format: LP
Label: CTI (US)

Year: 1975

Condition: NM/VG+

Lovely copy of this Ron Carter gem from the mid seventies. He's traveling a similar route as Coltrane on "Olé" or Miles's drawing "Sketches Of Spain" when translating Spanish themes into jazz lingo. Of course the number one double bass player on the planet makes the trip worthwhile (Hubert Laws on flute blowing us into iberian air). And then Carter adds a cherry on top by gving us a bass reinterpretation of So What  - and that is a jawdropper. For those who like it funky - enjoy that side trip to Arkansas and cool down...

Polish Jazz Quartet - Polish Jazz Quartet

Style: Polish Jazz

Format: LP
Label: Muza

Year: 1965 (Stereo version)

Condition: VG/VG (looks VG plays VG+)

Nothing less than one of the holy grails in polish jazz. Led by Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski on tenor and Wojciech Karolak on piano this seminal recording is one of the finest european jazz records of that time...  Vinyl shows surface scuffs but plays great - mostly proper VG+ with lightest background crackle at the beginning of each side and between the tracks. The thin paper cover looks great for that age.

Wolfgang Lauth Quartett +2 - Jazz For Fun

Style:  Modal Jazz

Format: LP
Label: Trend

Year: 1983

Condition: NM/VG tiny wobc, sticker shadow on front

Don't be put off by the production date. This record indeed sounds timeless - well at least not like 1983. In my opinion a fantastic Jazz album in the tradition of the Kenny Clarke & Francy Boland Big Band etc. Among the players: infamous Fritz Münzer (Second Direction) on flute and Chuck Tscheschner (King Pin Meh, Sound Factory Inc.) on bass. Of course Wolfgang Lauth is doing a great job on the vibes.... The album features some wonderful waltzes and even a short trip to brazil.

Ornette Coleman - Skies Of America

Style: Free Jazz

Format: LP
Label: CBS (NL)

Year: 1972

Condition: NM/VG+

Skies of America is the 17th album by jazz saxophonist Ornette Coleman, released on Columbia Records in 1972. It consists of one long composition by Coleman taking up both sides of the album, played by the London Symphony Orchestra and conducted by David Measham. Coleman himself only plays on a few segments, and there is no other jazz instrumentation.

Disenchanted with the music business after a less-than-enthusiastic response to his music, Coleman took a sabbatical to Montana in 1965.[8] Coleman witnessed a group of Native Americans and it inspired him.

"It was so cold," he said of that time in Montana. "It must have been 2 or 3 below zero, and when I saw the American Indians praying, doing their purity ritual, they looked like their bodies were transparent. All of a sudden, I saw the American Indian and the sky as the same people. It taught me something about religion, race, wealth, poverty, commerce. I said: 'Oh, I'm going to go over to the other side. I only want to be on the side of the consciousness that comes to people naturally."

Coleman began writing sketches of what became Skies of America.

The work features what Coleman called "Harmolodics", a merger of harmony, melody, and movement.
