Germna musicologists divide music into E-Musik and U-Musik. E for Ernste (serious) Musik and U for Unterhaltung (entertainment). In the Wikipedia article about Frank Wolff I read that he's constatntly travelling between those two poles. To me it sounds like that Wolf can be at both places at the same time. If you dig Black Masses, Experiments in Pop, playful Krautrock, Baudelaires Flowers Of Evil recited like a liturgy (bien sûr en français) and would like to enjoy the german national hymn Hoffmann von Fallersleben's Deutschlandlied in a different way than usual grab this copy. You won't regret!!

Vinyl shows one small scratch in B3 that creates background clicks for 12 rounds. Side A is NM. The delicate unlaminated cover shows some dirty spots at the open seam and minimal ringwear.

20 minutes before writing these lines this used to be a LIKE NEW COPY! Actually unplayed - the nicest one I've ever seen. Coming from a radio guys archive (who was probably more into the aloa-he side of Reichel...) I then washed it to ship it out dust-free and when I wanted to put it back into the inner sleeve it slipped out of my hands. Now we have a few surface scuffs (from my fingernails trying to hold it) on side A and an audible scratch on B1. If the night wouldn't have been that short I would be incredibly mad at me but being so tired sometimes helps to get over it... Cleaned rip included.

Two of those obvious cover songs found on hobbyists records - Let The Sun Shine In and Gimme Some Lovin. Both don't hurt actually, but I'd not be going for them when pulling out my copy. Salouse and Lost Reggae are my faves followed in sympathy by the long jam Break on the b-side. This delicate pressing is a tad crackly - Even the superclean keeper. But don't worry, you'll get a cleaned rip on CD-r.

Among Wolfgang Barthel's albums this is the record i discovered first and it was the main reason for me to do the compilation. I still remember the day when digging this out. Been showing two friends around my favourite german recordstores for a nice weeklong digging trip. This one popped up in a store in a lovely bavarian town. Listened to it over headphones in the shop... and boom! Found another one in the shop across the road and passed it to one of my friends. From there Into The Storm found it's way into the hearts of many aficionados in the last years. Here's the OG for the collector in you!

Especially the 14 minute long jam Leaving  L.A. "... So watch the clouds, They are drifting in the sky, And feel the river, He's floating by, bye, bye, good bye. And there ain't no reason why , You should look up and cry, No Message will reach you, And no god will teach you, The Reason Why. You know LSD and Alice dies, Paranoid In Paradise, And I'm trying to leave Los Angeles..."

I guess someone was really after that percussive uptempo version of Dylan's Knocking On Heaven's Door.
