Don't pass on this one if you dig esoteric grooves with that special 80s sound. Jo Lienen, the mastermind of Merge doesn't like it that much if you compare his sound to Pat Metheny's but hey -  they both use guitar synthesizers and know how to handle a guitar so I dare to compare.

Kraut Funk at it's BEST! Starting off with a superfunky jam session incl. soli for everyone in the band. Kemmler on guitar is blowing them other players to the walls of the studio. He‘s showing some more of his funky guitar skills in the second track called Chris The Fusionist. One thing very remarkable for a private german Fusion LP from 1983: It has RAPS! And they are a lot better than you‘d expect from a german (forget about Falco!). More fusion madness on the B- Side in Rebirth Of The Firebirds and they‘re closing with a mellow track called It Could Be. Smooth... Check the long clip!

Hobbyists again! Gifted girls and guys from Bückeburg (the middle of nowhere) playing tunes by Horace Silver, Alphonze Mouzon, Joe Sample, Ian Carr and Kenny Dorham. Plus these two self penned jams. Disco Swing is the notable among these two. Song For My Father and Come Into My Life are sthe strongest tracks in the batch of covers with an incredibly soulful sound for whiteys from the middle of Germany's nowhere. The sound is a bith thin since is was recorded in a school, but this is actually a lot more charming than disturbing ;)

Strong horn section and their affinity to the boogie (not woogie ;) is hard to find among german musicians...

My fave is the drum and bass workout Stars but the pensive title track Chiara (8:12) is really wonderful either.

Nicest copy of this uncommon jazz gem. All players are coming from a dixie or ragtime background. Nevertheless they have been playing with great names such as Mal Waldron or the local hero Joe Haider. When i discovered this i didn't expect much since the tunes are adaptions of german folk songs, but right the first track showed me that i was misdirected. Two of the four songs are fantastic modern jazz compositions. This is the original first issue with the foldout cover
