I have no clue why I even listened to this odd compilation. A giveaway from a pharma company. bäh! Maybe it has to do with my "private" fetish. And in this case I need to thank my private fetish for the strong curiosity. This wonderful & highly eccentric "deviant pop" pearl by Christos & Zodiac would have never made it into my life without it...

This amazing cat seems to be out of the bag! A pretty much private compilation including wonderful boogie pop (probably under the influence of a british band led by a guy named Le Bon ) as well as fresh Boogie Rap, sophisticated Synth Pop and some stylish 80s ads in the extensive booklet. Don't miss this!

Erholung translates recreation. Finding this album is far from being restorative. Those of you who are on the hunt know how exhausting exactly... Once you found it will give back lots ;) I've upped the two best jams to youtube, so you can enjoy them if you don't want to give me all your loot.

This late 80s compilation on clear vinyl holds some perfectly wonderful dreampop gems by a girl called Zina! Once you're out of her emotional web you can dance with the boys. I'd like to point out a few of the boy's jams: Firstly Nervous Breakdown by Charles W. Chicken, that shows strong influences of Baltimora-style Italo Disco and raging hard FGTH vibes. Sparkling Fountain's Thousand Years is a new beatish obscurity based on Henry Mancini's Peter Gunn pattern. Double Trouble's Beat Goes On and it's proper 80s Synthpop dreaming about holidays in Italy. Mardi Grass' Copa Cabana starts great but drifts off into pseudo brazillian chessyness. You should edit that track...

For years this has been sought after by hardcore fans of The Bates only. Seeing a copy change hands for over 70€ recently made me go through the shelves, knowing I had a spare. I knew it was a good one, but it's actually amazing. First stop: Twice As Nice with their etheral Fata Morgana. (Fans of Sango will be happy to hear the heavenly voice of Susanne Vogt here) From this molasses-like moment in time we're rocketing into obscurity. Arrabiato by Head on Shoulders breathes in some belgian air to transform it to universal sweat on the floor. And finally Excursions & Visites are creating and odd end with two "one of a kind" experimental pop gems that made me think of Mr. Selig & Kanzler Z...

This is the second and last part of the Rock Aus Braunschweig series. Whilst number one featured more jazz and pop this one here is rocking straight to the point. Or taking some extra rounds like the 8 minute long prog jam Live and Die by the band Divine. Thir colleagues called Action offer some excellent Bon Scott era AC/DC hardrock. Paradise Way is included in the clip. Some fellas called Heartburn are also featured with two tracks and they both made it into the clip. One fake reggae jam and the ironically funny Day Of Sadness. Delirium delivers hard pubrock for folks who like to propagandize their extensive abuse of alcohol. I'm sure there are fans for that kind of stuff but I'll save you from hearing it here.

Impossible to find private press compilation from North Germany including some fantastic Prog and Krautrock gems. Another one of those wonderful hobby comps. As usual there are some songs that need to be skipped quickly. And there are some really unusual beauties. Top of my pops the Jazz-Funk meringue I Send You All My Love by Checkpoint and Mai Thi's synthesizer excursion to Vietnam called Le Vent De Dieu (the wind of god) ((as featured in this mix from 2017)). More lovely jams in the 3rd clip. Don't sleep!

Obscure private comp from Mainz/Germany. Various styles are represented here. The most interesting tunes come from Kurzschluss (Shitgeil) - they remind me of the group Noah!!, but Cap Able Caps (Useless Feelings), D.K. I have never heard of Helmut Berger before discovering this record, so the amazement about these two guitar jams somewhere between pastoral and psychedelic couldn't have been bigger. Who would have guessed that a small town like Esslingen near Stuttgart in Germany's south would have a female Afro Brazillian Percussion Group and gents that play some amazingly smooth Latin Jazz? Dug it out in the Stuttgart area and found out later that it was mainly pressed on CD and in very limited quantities on LP too.

Wearing my Mustang Jeans whilst typing these letters. It muts have worked on me... Odd music for odd times! The small cult label Steyrer Disco accomanies Mustang's Autumn & Winter collection 1983 with a mixed bag of goodies. My fave is Klaus Herzing's ELEKTRONIK jam Journey to Alternaty only available on this comp and a horribly hard to find 7". A private compilation presenting unknown Latin Jazz groups from late 80s Munich? Yes, please! There's three or four afro cuban tunes on this album that I can't talk about much since i don't understand it - too fast for me. But what I can tell you: it doesn't sound bavarian at all ;) The reason for buying this album are these two wonderful songs by Quintessenz who are actually only borderlining the term Latin Jazz. Their Ludenhausen, with that irresistible waltzy feel, might be the HIT of the album! Closely spaced with Kariba's Demasiado with a groove that sets you in motion instantly....

As one would guess this is a Live Recording. It says Volume I, but after investigating heavily I can tell you that there's no Volume II. Probably due to a lack of commercial succes. The concert was given in a small spot called Gulfhaus in the middle of nowhere (Northern Germany). There's some deep blues and bluesrock tunes on the album and even some funky disco "op platt" by the ever-funny north german original Jan Willem.
And there's a non LP track by the Fusion-Combo Matter of Taste around Fritz & Kathrin Haug. This track is a beast of driving funky fusion... and seemingly only available on this compilation.

A seldom seen compilation from the city of Bremerhaven, just north of Bremen (if you have ever heard of that). Bremerhaven obviously had an active music scene guessing from this great comp. Starts off with Zambo serving a funky AOR groover in Wolfsmond style, followed by conga led folk with great lyrics. Next is the Band Traumauge (Dream-eye) with the serious Krautprog jam Reflections. Side B is for the hardrocking folks (usually i'm out at this point) and oh wonder I found MUCH PLEASURE in the funky early AC/DC styled rocker Set me Free by Rampage

A 3-Record set recorded live in Stuttgart, Germany 1978. The first side is straight Dixie shit and I can't listen to that longer than 5 minutes. From side B on it's getting more and more interesting. My personal highlight is the last record. Opened by Peter Garratoni & Friend's amazing jam Rock For Li - followed by Syncrisis and Frederic Rabold jamming with percussionist Manfred Kniel. On Side F we find the complete unknown group Baobab with the incredible spiritual jazz funk tune Keine Nummer - rocking it over 6 minutes. The next group Muja is just as famous and they kick ass as well. Jan Jankeje and his Mlada Muzika crew are closing the set with two short but wicked drum and bass psalms. Also in the clip: Blowin Five by Styx, So What by Flute Jazz and A Night In Stuttgart by the Stuttgarter Jazz Workshop with Ala Heiler (À la Ala) on sax &
